Wildly Radical ("we," "us," "our") runs guided bikepacking and overlanding expeditions in the Indian Himalaya. This policy explains what personal information we collect from you, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

We keep this short and specific on purpose. If anything here is unclear, write to us at wildlyradical@gmail.com and we'll explain it properly.

What we collect

When you enquire or subscribe:
Name, email address, phone number, and anything you choose to tell us in a message or WhatsApp conversation.

When you book a trip:
Everything above, plus: date of birth, government ID details (required for Inner Line Permits and protected-area permits in Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh), emergency contact details, travel insurance policy details, cycling experience, and relevant health information — including medical conditions, medications, allergies, and dietary requirements.

We ask for health information because we run trips at altitudes above 5,000 metres in places where the nearest hospital can be a day away. Our guides need to know. This information is treated as sensitive and is shared only with the crew leading your specific trip.

When you visit the site:
Standard technical information — IP address, browser type, device, pages visited, and time on site — collected through cookies and analytics tools. This is aggregate and doesn't identify you personally.

Payment information:
We do not store your card, UPI, or bank details. Payments are processed by third-party payment providers who handle that data under their own security standards.

Why we collect it

Each use of your information, and the legal basis that allows it:

  • Responding to your enquiry — because you asked us to.
  • Booking and running your trip — necessary to deliver the service you paid for.
  • Applying for permits on your behalf — legal requirement for restricted-area travel.
  • Rider safety, medical response, evacuation — your vital interests; consent given at booking.
  • Sending newsletters and trip announcements — your consent, withdrawable any time.
  • Improving the site and our trips — our legitimate business interest.
  • Tax, accounting, and GST compliance — legal obligation under Indian law.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. Ever.

We share it only with:

  • Government authorities — for Inner Line Permits, protected-area permits, and mandatory traveller registration
  • Local operational partners — homestays, campsite operators, drivers, mechanics, and support crew, limited to what they need to host or assist you
  • Medical and evacuation services — in an emergency, without waiting for your permission
  • Payment processors and accounting services — for transactions and statutory filings
  • Our technology providers — including our website host and email tools, who process data on our instructions

Photography and video

We photograph and film on our trips. These images may appear on our website, social media channels, and marketing material.

If you would rather not appear in published material, tell us before or during the trip and we'll respect it. You can also ask us to remove a specific image after the fact — write to wildlyradical@gmail.com and we'll take it down from our own channels within a reasonable time. Images already reshared by third parties may be beyond our control.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't convert: up to 2 years
  • Booking and trip records: 8 years, as required for tax and GST compliance
  • Health and emergency contact information: deleted within 12 months of trip completion unless there was a medical incident requiring a longer record
  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct anything inaccurate or incomplete
  • Erase your data, where we're not legally required to keep it
  • Withdraw consent at any time — this doesn't affect processing already carried out
  • Nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become incapacitated
  • Complain to us first, and to the Data Protection Board of India if we don't resolve it

To exercise any of these, email wildlyradical@gmail.com with your request and enough detail for us to identify your records.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transmission and restricted access. No system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security — but we take it seriously, and we'll tell you promptly if a breach affects your data.

Cookies

Our site uses cookies for basic functionality, to remember your preferences, and to understand how visitors use the site. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.

International visitors

We operate from India and store data in India and with service providers who may process it elsewhere. By using this site or booking with us, you understand your information will be handled under Indian law.

Children

Our trips are not sold to anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from children. Riders under 18 may only join with a parent or guardian who books on their behalf and provides written consent.

Changes

We'll update this policy when our practices change. The "last updated" date at the top tells you when. Material changes affecting booked riders will be emailed directly.
