Refund Policy

Here's how refunds work, in plain terms. This policy sits alongside our Terms & Conditions — where they overlap, the Terms & Conditions apply.

The short version

Deposits are non-refundable, but they are transferable. If your plans change, your deposit moves to the next season rather than disappearing. We built it this way because we commit to permits, vehicles, and village homestays months ahead, and because we'd rather you came later than lost your money.

Why deposits aren't refundable

When you book, we start spending. Permits get applied for. Support vehicles get reserved. Homestays in Zanskar and Sainj get committed to, often with families whose season income depends on it. Our groups are small — 4 to 15 riders — so one cancellation is a meaningful share of a departure.

The deposit covers that commitment. The transfer option is how we keep it fair to you.

Deposit transfer

Your deposit transfers in full to the same trip next season, or to another Wildly Radical expedition of equal or greater value, subject to:

• Availability on your chosen departure
• Use within 12 months of your original departure date
• Payment of any difference in price
• Written request to wildlyradical@gmail.com

Deposits cannot be transferred more than once, and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit against anything other than a trip.

Cancelling after you've paid the balance

Deposit amounts and payment deadlines differ by trip — check your trip page. Once you've paid the balance, refunds on that balance work like this:

• 60+ days before departure — we refund 100% of the balance paid
• 30–60 days before departure — we refund 50%
• 15–29 days before departure — we refund 25%
• Under 15 days before departure — nothing
• You don't show up, or you leave mid-trip — nothing

Cancellations take effect on the date we receive your written notice at wildlyradical@gmail.com.

Transferring your place to someone else

Up to 21 days before departure, you can pass your place to another rider who meets the trip's fitness requirements. You'll need to cover any permit reissue and administrative costs. Email us and we'll sort it.

If we cancel

Not enough riders: We tell you at least 30 days out. Full refund of everything you've paid, or transfer to another trip — your choice.

Weather, landslides, permits, or other circumstances beyond our control: We refund what you've paid minus costs we've already committed and can't recover. We'll show you exactly what those were. Most riders take a future-trip credit instead, and we'll always offer it.

Trip ends early once it's underway: We get you to the nearest safe town and help with onward arrangements. We can't refund the unused days or cover your changed flights — your travel insurance is what covers this, which is why we require it.

What we can't refund

• Your flights, trains, or travel to the start point
• Accommodation booked outside the itinerary
• Travel insurance premiums
• Visa or passport costs
• Days you choose not to ride
• Services included in the trip that you opt out of
• Any trip you're asked to leave for non-disclosure of a medical condition, or for conduct that endangers the group

How refunds are paid

Approved refunds are processed within 14 working days of written confirmation, to the original payment method. Bank processing can add 5 to 10 working days. Any transaction or payment gateway charges are deducted. GST already remitted to the government is refunded only where the law allows us to reclaim it.

Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance including cancellation cover is mandatory on all our trips. Where this policy can't refund you, a good insurance policy usually can. Buy it when you book, not the week before you fly.
